Spartans take to the water
St. Francis High School adds swim teams to its 2008-2009 athletic roster
Wheaton, IL – 27 May 2008 – St. Francis High School in Wheaton today announced the addition of its first official boys and girls swimming team to its athletic program. Spartan swimmers will begin competition next fall.
“The inclusion of boys and girls swimming to the team athletic offerings at St. Francis is a great opportunity to further our student population’s co-curricular experience,” commented Paul Linden, St. Francis Athletic Director.
St. Francis competitive swimming reaches back into the late 1970’s, when the school was able to achieve state success through individual achievements. Spartan swimmers placed St. Francis in the Girl’s IHSA State Tournament in 1977-78, 1978-79, and 1979-80. Girls placed as individuals in 1978-79, 1979-80, 1980-81, 1981-82, and 1982-83.
Spartan swim team practices will be located at an off-campus facility. All meets will be competed away.
