2013 Bookplate Winner- Kaitlin Bucaro

St. Francis Commemorative Bookplate Design Competition 2012-2013

Late in November, the St. Francis High School Learning Resource Center announced the winner of its yearly Bookplate Design Competition. The competition invites all students to design an original bookplate which incorporates the current year’s theme into a design that typifies and identifies the unique qualities, characteristics and spirit of St. Francis. The theme for this year’s competition was St. Francis High School: Many Yet One

The winners of this year’s competition were selected by a panel comprised of representatives from our school and business community who judged each of the 27 entries. Members of the judging panel included The Honorable Mrs. Deborah Birutis, parent and Mayor of Winfield, Ms. Lorraine Nelson, member of the St. Francis Board of Directors, and President of Lorraine Nelson Consulting, Inc., Mrs. Meg Olsen, former parent, and Director of Advancement at All Saints Catholic Academy, Mr. Ken Burke, Dean of Students and Mrs. John Schuller, Religion teacher.

The 2012-2013 first place winner, senior, Kaitlin Bucaro, daughter of Anthony and Michelle Bucarao of Carol Stream, was awarded a $50 check, and will have her original design framed and hung in the library. A copy of Kaitlin’s design will also be placed in each item donated during the 2012-2013 school year as part of our Annual Book Donation Program, which will begin in late January and will be found on the St. Francis homepage.

The second place winner is senior, Lauren Shields, daughter of William and Lisa Shields of Winfield, who received a $20 Barnes & Noble gift card. The third place winner, and recipient of a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card is senior, Anthony Quattrochi, son of Jeremy and Diane Quattrochi of Carol Stream.

Mrs. Judi Rath, Director of the Learning Resource Center, congratulates all the winners and thanks all those who participated!
