Presidential Search Committee Update Handbook Rules for Presidential Search President, St. Francis High School The Board of Directors has initiated a search to replace President, Sister Sheila Megley, RSM who resigned to accept a significant leadership role with her Order the Sisters of Mercy. The Position: St. Francis High School seeks a President who will act as the chief executive officer of the school corporation. The President reports to the Board of Directors and has the ultimate authority within the school, as well as the ability to delegate authority and responsibility to other chief administrators of the school. In the President/Principal administrative model in effect at St. Francis, the President, in consultation with the Board of Directors, hires, evaluates and issues the Principal’s contract. The Principal is responsible for the quality of the curriculum and co-curriculum operations of the school. In addition, the Director of Operations and Director of Development report to the President. The President promotes the mission, vision and philosophy of St. Francis High School and serves as both the spiritual and long-range planning leader. Overall, he/she will manage the administrative, fundraising, business and financial functions and be the direct liaison with the Board. Other important interactions include alumni and friend development, marketing initiatives, the budget process, community relations and oversight of the school plant and facilities. Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership and communication skills and will be a collaborator and motivator among the school’s stakeholders. As stated in the duties and responsibilities, the individual must have demonstrated skills in institutional development, financial management, and overall vision and leadership, as well as be a liaison with the many publics that interact with the school. He/She must be a charismatic leader who has a strong personal value system, particularly in relationship to the Catholic faith. He/She must possess a passion for working in the secondary schools and completely understand and have the ability to execute the mission and vision of the school. Obviously, he/she must be a good listener and strategic thinker who can look at the position from a continued improvement standpoint. Strong interpersonal skills, as well as integrity and honesty are extremely critical to this position. The successful candidate must possess outstanding educational credentials and have a proven track record of collaborative leadership experience at a similar institution.
